Land acquisition of additional 50 thousand acres of land for industry, return of land if industry is started within 10 years
An additional 50 thousand acres of land is being acquired for setting up industries in the state. Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani said that 20,000 acres in Bangalore and 30,000 acres in other districts.
Salim Ahmed, a member of the Vidhan Sabha, asked how long the industry should be set up on the site or land sanctioned by the Karnataka Regional Development Board. He questioned what action would be taken if the industry was not established.
Based on the estimated size of the project, the time frame for starting the business is fixed. Steel industries need up to five years. A maximum period of 10 years is given for overall business start-up. If the business is not started within it, a notice will be issued and the land will be reclaimed.
So far notices have been given to 117 entrepreneurs. Nirani replied that some people have gone to the court and brought an injunction, but further action will be taken to take back the land by placing a caveat.
